About Kelsy
I’m an adoptive + step parent, pediatric nurse, mindfulness coach, and meditation instructor.
I became a parent to my stepsons first. Eight years later, we adopted our son at age fourteen. It has been a rocky road of ups and downs. After several years, I have a close relationship with my three sons. I feel called to support other adoptive+non-birthing parents on their journeys.
I created this space because I know what it feels like to step into parenthood in a way that doesn’t follow the “traditional path” and how unsupported that can feel.
I use both lived experience and mindfulness-based tools to support you in a way that is real, grounded, and actually usable in everyday life.
My approach isn’t about doing it perfectly—it’s about helping you feel more steady, more connected, and less alone in it.
What You’ll Receive
When I look back at becoming a step-parent and then adopting a teen…it is a blur of just going for it and trying to navigate the non-traditional journey along the way.
I spent many days and nights feeling alone. Deeply in love with my kids yet feeling like I did not know them. Longing for the connection of a mother but knowing they did not come from my body. Feeling afraid of rejection and deeply hopeful to be someone they felt close to.
Being an adoptive+non-birthing parent felt lonely. Like I needed support but that type of support did not exist. All parenting offerings were close…but I had to adjust on my own to apply any support, parenting stories, common parenting ups and downs, etc to my unique situation.
I hope to use my story and lived experience along with my journey as a mindfulness coach to offer a supportive space to other adoptive+non-birthing parents navigating parenting.
